Here's another one of those pesky fake rotated die Kennedy halves. This one has a nice, even 180 degree rotation, exactly as shown in the pictures. The bogus nature of the coin is obvious: the seam where the two coin "halves" are joined is clearly visible along the reverse rim, the coin makes a dull "thunk" sound when dropped (like a lead sinker!) and the weight is drastically low, at 10.1 grams vs. the 11.34 gram standard weight. The obverse is also pretty banged up, probably due to rough handling during the machining process.

This is the fourth fabricated Kennedy rotated die I've found. Eventually I might accumulate a complete set with rotations varying from 90 through 270 degrees. It might make a nice exhibit for an upcoming coin show!

Anyone willing to share the names of the banks that seem to have customer rolls? All the big name banks I've been to don't have them, but neither do any of the smaller local banks. Maybe NJ isn't the right place to find them?

Jaobler,

I found one of those. It is a Magician's coin. The back will come off to reveal another coin inside. I can see the fine grove in your photo on the back. Tap the edge of it on a desk and take a razor blade to catch the edge to open it up. Mine had a Mexican coin inside.

Of the two that I've found, both are "double tails" and well-made with precision machine work. I've been tempted to open them up and pull out the Mexican coin, but they look so good that I think I'll just keep them as souvenirs.

I got a $1000 bag today that had nothing in it. But then on the way home I stopped at a bank that had 1 roll and in the roll was a 64 and 6 40%ers.

So I finally hit the jackpot yesterday! After a couple of months of me griping about not getting any Walkers, I got three yesterday! 2 x 1942, 1 x 1945-S. I also had 4 40%s and 5 NIFCs.

I went to 4 banks in my neighborhood and none of them even had Kennedy roles. Disappointing.

I am sorely tempted to get a JFK box, but of course I don't want to be skunked.

Then again, I'm a beginner at box-searching, so maybe I'll have beginner's luck.
