Took a little hiatus from halves for a couple weeks, but caught the bug and went bank hopping to find a roll of Ikes of which had a 73S-proof (non-silver) and a gold plated 72D, along with a lonely 68D from $280 CWR's

As for Dunbar, I found out my local CU uses them for the small coin traffic. I am trying to get some
boxes ordered to see what kind of results I receive.

I asked for a simple box of dimes about two weeks ago, and the final word was they could not do it. They did, though,
have a ton of dimes already in their vault from customers they were more than glad to get rid of.

I think I am going to ask for a single box of halves this time. If they say they cannot order, I think I am going to
follow it up with a question of as to why they cannot do it? With my IRA setting in their bank, I would like to know
why they could not order a single box of halves - especially when I have taken lost of change in the past without returning it. :)

Hey Ken, wonder if you have asked "too big to fail" banks about ordering halves. I'm sure there will be one in your area willing to do this. Just move all your accounts over there. Smaller bank usually won't order probably be cause it will cost them extra to favor you.

Skunked on another box, but the teller also had 4 CWRs. Got a 40%er out of there.

Hey KenScott, yeah thats to bad, it sounds like it may be tough to get the coin there, might be able to get them to do it once a month for you. Or try a different branch if they have one. I am going to the bank I saw them come from today. Iv got 3 scenarios. #1 dunbar for some reason services that one branch of one of my banks. #2 They were doing a vendor drop off at my bank or that credit union next door. ( I'm still not 100% sure that is a credit union next door) #3 they service that credit union.

I am going to bring a box in to cash in at my bank, and I am going to straight up ask them if they use dunbar, I suspect they dont, and there is a credit union next door they were at, or they were doing a vendor drop.

kenscott, I learned (the hard way) that some banks don't like it when you take change from them. Now they charge me 3%.

I'm not saying this would apply to you but it might be information that you and others find useful. I was planning on providing stuff like this in my 'other' thread but it didn't catch on. I learned that the S&S wrappers are used by people other than the fed. I assumed my bank was ordering coin from the fed when in fact they were just rolling their own and reusing it. They had no need to order from the fed in "years" until I came along. Oops. This was a regional bank with maybe 15 or 20 branches in my part of the world.

One of my dump banks had $8 in halves, and I asked if I could have them. They said yeah, and in the $8 there was some silver!

Got three silvers last night all 40%. That puts me at 101 silver halves for the year doing one box per week.
