Quit roll searching a few months back when my bank started charging $5 per box to order a box. Thinking about finding another bank to open an account and order from and using my old bank for dumping.
Any one else paying to order boxes? with the number of skunk boxes showing up it doesn't seem worth it at times.

Bad skunk streak this weekend Three boxes of halves an two of dimes and one of nickels and a whole lot of nothing.

Yes, one of the banks I order from started charging $6.00 per box for account holders and $8.00 per box for non-account holders the beginning of last year.
The crazy thing about this it they also want $6.00 per box regardless of denomination.
Like I'm really going to pay $6.00 for a $25.00 box of cents!!
I only order a few boxes of halfs per week at this bank and I purchase ALL other coins at different banks that are still free.
They also just recently started to charge a 5% usage on their coin counting machines to all non account holders. That used to be free to use for anyone.

Anybody else have experience with paying the bank for ordering boxes of halves? How has it been working out?

I paid for a few boxes a while back but I wasnt finding enough to make it worth while.
I have since switched to Wells Fargo and get boxes for free from a few different branches once per week or so.

bob, yes bank I used get my coins from tried to charge me 15 cents per roll for half dollar boxes and I told them nevermind I used to get 6 boxes here and said no way am I giving you 45 dollars extra a week so I found another bank

forgot to add picked up 3 boxes today and didnt find a thing, amazing I find 3 silver quarters in 2 boxes yet cant find 1 silver half in 3 boxes haha
heppy new yr to all my fellow half dollar searchers!! may we all hit many monster boxes for 2013!!

Thanks MOnks! Our monster boxes are just around the corner  I stopped most of this month with doing halfs. I got 8 coming in later this week, hopefully the New Year will start out great! |

Hey Folks, I have good news to report, but as seems to be my nature, I have a negative twist to add. I just picked up one of my 3 boxes from BofA. I've been on a long skunk streak with them. As usual, I decided to edge search a few rolls before getting back to work. Opened the first few rolls and found nothing. There were several burnt looking coins, which have been getting passed around here lately, so I figured its another typical skunk. I opened another roll and looked at one of the burnt coins and it was a 1966. Sweet. Edge searched about 40% of the box and found 9 40%ers. (Now for the negative perspective) I'm afraid I'm still in the middle of a bunch of coin that's been searched by a mega searcher that likely edge searches for silver only. He wouldn't know these were silver unless he stumbled upon one when spot checking. Hopefully I'm wrong.

926, There isn't an active CRHer that hasn't went on a dry spell of $1500 without something meaningful. On average, we tend to find about 1 40%er per box but it's really easy to go a few thousand with nothing and then hit 10, 20, or more. Sometimes you do hit 1 or 2 per box. But if you stick with it, you'll be fighting through many streaks. Many of us have went on streaks in the $10's of thousands. If you stick with it, you'll hit something. Don't keep going to the same well if it's dry. Doesn't mean that no one is dropping silver. You could be eating someone's dump. And that someone might be dumping $50k per week. Do at least $5k at the current location before giving up on it. Then try another bank or credit union. Most people do cull silver, whether they are 'around you' or around me. Your waiting on the few people that don't know or don't care.

OO Amazing more "twin boxes", found 9 40% in a box today. 4 rolls each had 2 silvers in them. Good luck the rest of the week, IV been through 4 boxes so far, only 12 this week, and its my best week in a while. Got 2 more boxes from the same source tomm. |

bank called me and said they had 1 box here no idea where that one came from but I was on it quick no silver but had a 1955 british caribbean territories coin, chuck I believe you found one of these yrs ago as well, first time I have seen one and its almost uncirculated not a bad find for one box sadly its not silver, the UK stopped using silver in their coins in 1946
