I stopped at one of my banks today to pick up some nickels. They told me they didn't have any so I bought a box of pennies. The teller told me it would take a few minutes until a second teller was available to go with him into the vault. I asked him if he had customer wrapped instead. He told me I was in luck, he was just getting ready to dump them into a bag to return to the armored car company. He had just finished dumping a box of halves that a customer didn't pick up. Needless to say, I bought the bag of halves. I'm glad I did. I was able to pull 1 1967 and 1 1992-S Clad Proof along with 3 NIFC's and a couple of errors.

Sounds like y'all are having some great finds. Got skunked on my first box. I have a suspicion I bought someones dump. I have one ordered for next week. Keeping my fingers crossed for a little better luck.

Silver Picker, It looks like you've really picked it up on the number of boxes. Do you report all the boxes you look at or just occasional?

Grey Squirrel, it really doesn't matter, unless you're in my area (Philadelphia district) because every area is different... and a huge part of my success is the volume I search... I do a lot of boxes, so I have much better odds of getting the loaded boxes than individuals that do 2-3-4-5-6 boxes a week.

Yes, yes I do. Why would I share that information, though? I don't need anybody cutting into what is a very lucrative hobby for me.
Let my competition experiment and hopefully, fail. I hope anybody else who considers upping their volume around here gets boxes upon boxes of my dumps.

Hey all been a while. Took a break b/c school was kicking my rear. What sane 36 year old goes back for an undergrad when he doesn't need it lol. But only 2 classes left so almost done!
I'm off to Vegas and CES, anyone have advice where not to search? Like your dump banks? :)

I think most people are too protective of information. I wouldn't expect people to talk about a specific honey hole but that's not really the kind of information that would be useful anyway. I believe sharing general information about where you dump and pick up would actually be very helpful. Contrary to popular belief, the real players in our "hobby" don't see this as a hobby at all. It's their job. Most probably don't post here and probably don't follow these threads on an on going basis. They are doing hundreds of boxes a week, scanning for silver only. I believe the sharing of information among those of us that view this as a hobby would be more helpful than hurtful. It would allow us to unite and use that information to our benefit. Imagine if all of us started dumping at the same mega bank. There are several opportunities for efficiency that could be tapped if we work together as a community. We would be able to compete as a unit with the true mega searchers.
If people are worried about the information being used against them, we could create a place of contact where only those that are current active members can view the thread. You'd agree to be open and provide information that would be helpful. In return, you get to view that information from other members. Just a thought.
