I have no problem with sharing general info like what type of boxes, what type of wrappers, what did I find each week, how many boxes do I do etc, but I will not share where I purchase boxes and especially where and how I dump, as this would definitely have an impact on my weekly operations if other searchers started using the same procedures etc .

This is my personal belief.
Maybe others feel different and that's fine.

I'm with you. My dump bank is a small community bank with a nice counter. They love to see me. Great relationship. Have our heloc there too, so they know its not just dumping for me. I walk in with 4-7k at a time, we chat etc. they love to see loomis struggle with the bags:).

I need diversity in pickups too, but I'm lazy and my big bank will get as many as I want in an order. Max has been 6k at once? Just not enough time to do more. But I could if I had the labor.

I've just opened an additional account at a nearby bank. The assistant manager who opened the account listened as I explained I was creating the account primarily to purchase rolls. One of the things I tell bankers when asking for boxes is "I promise I'll dump at another bank HA HA", it relaxes the proposition somewhat. Most will say, "oh it's OK", but I know it's a hassle when I come in with a ba-zillion rolls. If I'm getting rolls or loose coins from a bank with no account, I consider it a HUGE favor for them to deal with me and I'm mindful even if I do have an account. It's their job, I know, but people are people.

This young gentleman told me, "since you'll be dealing with large amounts of coins, take a bank bag, fill it, bring it in, we ship it to the counters, and make a deposit in you're account."

The catch is I must use the debit card at least 10 times a month. They charge 25 cents per transaction. So for around $2.50 monthly, they'll order boxes, save "odd coins" for me, (it's the same bank where I got 6 proof Kennedys from a tellers drawer), and I can send out the loose coins to be sorted and deposited - including coins I pull from other banks.

While I realize there is a possibility I could get shorted and I intend to be vigilant, I think this may be a pretty sweet deal.

The trick is getting them to take your bags and give you cash instantly, not have your money floating around in a bag somewhere in a vault, on a truck, in a warehouse...

Takes a really good relationship with a bank to get that privilege.

I just walk in when I am curious if they'll order, and straight up ask... "If I open an account, can you guys order me 2 boxes of halves every week? Without fees?"

I was thinking about going back for an RN at 26... But god, I don't want to deal with more student loans, I pay $400/mo right now and it's killing me. I don't exactly make horrible money either.

OO ... I'm with you. I'm not trying to buy a house with this hobby ... more power to you if you can fade2black. I'm just trying to hunt for some cool coins. My 2 boxes a week is adrop in the bucket of what people are doing. Yeah, it's nice to hit a pile of silver every once in awhile. I cash them in and buy some coins I really want ... feeding the hobby. I guess I was looking for the same thing as you. How can we enjoy the hobby side of this with so many people purely doing it for profit. But I agree, someone will screw it up in the end looking for an edge.

Maybe a separate thread more geared towards the smaller hobby guy? Hate to suggest moving from this thread, cause it's been awesome to read over the last year. Also agree, not sure how many people would share because it would affect finds in the end. Anyways .... just my thoughts.
