I got a box today and it had already obviously been searched. by the way, does anybody mark their 1974d's with black sharpie?
I've seen sharpie on some too. Some people mark the ends of the rolls they've searched so that if they get the same roll again, they don't spend the time looking through it again. If you got alot of 74D with sharpie maybe somebody doesn't want to have to check them again for DDO.

Why would the 74 Ds be marked with a sharpie?

I went through the 18 boxes and returned everything. Overall I got 27
40%ers, 5 1964, 3 Franklins and 3 walkers. Not a really great return.

11 boxes were skunks. I did get a 76/1976 40%er.

and your point is?

No real point. You guys are the sole reason half dollars are actually moving in commerce. Its just strikes me as funny.

Part of it is jealousy. I cannot find a bank to order me a box...

How do you figure not a great return? 27) 40% & 11) 90% face value is $19.00. melt value as of Friday is #112.40. Silver is $14.10 oz. Look at it this way. You paid (spot price) for roughly 1.35 oz of silver and received 7.98 oz of silver! And if you bought it any other way, you would be paying some sort of markup over spot. I realize that you went through alot of rolls to do it, but you have to think of it as a long term investment. When silver takes off again, you'll have alot of it that you obtained cheaply and can make a killing on it.

You guys are right. I've just gotten more out of less before.

I looked through over 50 boxes this week and I had one run with 8 skunks in a row, that wasn't even part of the last 18 boxes. Anyway I don't think I'm going to do quite as many this week. I know for sure that I will have 22 boxes, maybe a little more.

Maybe it was not a great return on a per box basis, but you made up for it with sheer volume. Not sure I would be comfortable with almost 10 grand in my house in cash though.

Hey everyone, I finished going throught the 2nd box of halves I ordered recently. Would've posted this sooner but the motherboard on my computer died last week and I am using the public library computers until my computer returns from the shop.
Well, when I went through the rest of the second box, I found another 1964-D. I have another two boxes of halves on order through the same bank. I'll let you know how it goes.

Silver halve finds to date
(2) 1964-D
(1) 1967

Well my 5th box from this bank finally had some silver! 4-1964, 1-1964D, 1-1967, 1-1968D and also a 1978S proof. I got so excited I recycled the halves and went back and got the other box! No silver...only only 1 NIFC, a 2003.
