In response to dumping large amounts of coin. There is only one bank in my area, but it has several branches, that will take this many halves. Yesterday, with a helper, I dropped off $6500.00 at one time, at the counting machine. We each walked in with $1000 and I went back to the car 4 times before the machine stopped running. We have access to about 7 branches of this bank. So we won't go to this one again for a few weeks. The bank teller assisting unloaded 6 bags
before we were finished and didn't seem to mind. An order of 18 boxes is coming from a different bank tomorrow, I don't think we will dump these all in one day though. I have only been getting these
large orders for about 2 weeks and so far the volume of halves doesn't seem to be pushing up the silver findings. But I will keep trying it for about a month before I either slow down the orders or the findings pick up. I searched 2 boxes this morning- both total skunks.

Got three loose halves today from a teller tray and one was a BU 1968d!

WOO-HOO!    1974D Doubled-die Obv. #3! I still have 5 rolls left from my first two boxes ever, so I'm averaging, assuming I don't find anymore, one of these per box. Plus I found my first one in just two customer rolls from the bank! |

Wow. Somebody pinch me  The second roll after #3... #4! Maybe these aren't as rare as I thought... Even if they're not, they're awesome to look at. |

My last box was worse then a skunk. Nothing to be found and one of the rolls only had 11 halves in it.

The teller that orders my halves called me today and said that somebody turned in some halves today so I ran up and grabbed the $11.00 worth...no silver but 6) 2005 (asst p & d). She told me that usually she would have told the customer to run them through the coinstar...but she remembered I was in there yesterday and asked about half dollars. This got me thinking about the 4 skunker boxes I have received from that bank and the dreaded (silverless) black and white wrappers others have mentioned.
Facts that I've gotten from here and my bank!
1) Coinstar machines reject silver!
2) Most banks with coinstar reject rolled or loose change!
3) When bag in coinstar is full, it is sealed and shipped!
4 My bank, and another I've checked into that also has a coincounter has to order half dollars 2 boxes ($1000.00) at a time even though they are boxed by $500.00.
So I'm wondering if those dreaded black and white wrappers with no silver are coming from coinstar bags and not being rolled until ordered from the bank (since they have to be ordered 2 boxes at a time) Any thoughts? Has anybody had any good finds from those black and white wrappers?

I never get yellow wrappers. I always get gray or black and white. I have found 502 40% and 119 90% to date this year. I have looked through 65,420 halves.

I had yellow and white wrappers yesterday, so needless to say I was pleased. I had a 1952 Franklin and 3 1967 Kennedys. I also had an Ecuador 50 Centavo coin from 2000 and a 2004 P and 2005 D NIFC. As for rustyboy, don't hate because you have no free silver.

All my wraps are either black and white, or yellow and white. No silver in the last box either, but at least I got a 2004 So I break the skunk streak.

I don't count NIFCs as a find. I'm only interested in silver so if I find NIFCs but no silver I consider it a skunk box. I put the NIFCs in my son's piggy bank. He's got about half a dozen shiny half dollars from 2002 and up.

Well I finally went through 2 more boxes, no silver but I did score a 1973 s proof, and 3 NICF(2002,2--3,2004d) however two of them have black marker on jeffersons face. So apparently someone searched them before and tossed them.

i got a box today and it had already obviously been searched. by the way, does anybody mark their 1974d's with black sharpie?
