only good thing that came out of the last 2 boxes, except for the 76 proof, when I dumped it in coinstar at the CU I was 3 coins (1.50) up after pulling the proof.

>> Jlafever,

Yep, that is one great find. Motivates me to make some rounds tomorrow to some banks I have never set foot in. In my area there are probably 100 different banks and they need to be visited.

Your great find has me motivated again.

I want to post this again because I think it got lost in all the posts:

Question: Do these half dollars in a box come in paper rolls so you can put them back or do they come in those plastic rolls that have to be torn into and can't be reused? If it's plastic, I need to order some paper rolls.

Thanks.

all the rolls I have searched are tight paper wrapped, they can not be reused.

Where's the best place to buy the empty coin rolls for the half dollars?

Thanks.

Kurykid - ask at your local bank and they almost always will give you a handful of wrappers. Just ask every time you are in there - whether you need them or not. Then build up a stockpile to use when you have halves to return. I just got about 50 wrappers the other day and re-rolled half the bag of 1000 I bought on saturday afternoon. I'll get some more wrappers or dump the coin in the coin counter at my bank to get rid of the rest.

Found 3 NFC (03, 02, 08) and an 81 Proof that was nicked up fairly well in the bag of $1000 halves. No AG. keep trying.

Kurrykid, I normally buy bank boxes of halves and nickels. They come wrapped in paper wrappers similar to the nickels pictured below. I have seen people carefully unroll one end of the wrapper and reuse the wrapper. They just fold over the end after they have checked the roll. I have never seen halves wrapped in plastic. I have also seen some people reuse plastic wrappers from the dimes, nickels, and pennies. I tried it with nickels and it was too much trouble.

I don't need to wrap my coins to return them anymore. I either dump them into a coin machine at the bank or bag them and get cash back. Ask your bank if they have this service. It may even be available at another branch.

As for buying paper wrappers, I bought them from Bank Supplies. Shipping can sometimes be a little high, so I took advantage of their specials. The last time I placed an order, I picked up about 10,000 wrappers. It was just my luck that my bank installed a coin machine about a month later. Needless to say, I am now sitting on a bunch of wrappers. Good luck with your searching.

Thanks Murphy. I can usually unroll the coins carefully enough to reuse them when they come like the picture you showed.

I guess I'll just wait until I get a box and see what happens. My first box is supposed to come in on Wednesday
