Just make sure she is not being polite. I was also told this at a local bank where I ordered from. I think of 40 plus boxes, I only returned 1. I saw a teller's countenance fall a bit but she was nice.

I would test it with a small dump first and see how they react.

I have been dumping back at one of my banks and they seem to be OK with it, as long as I don't drop HEAVY bags.

Would this be a type 1 or type 2?
I'm thinking type 1?

KurryKid - I used to keep track, but stopped years ago. I couldn't give you an accurate figure, but it is easily in the 5000+ range. I dumped a bunch of 40% when silver was in the mid $40's.

I hunt primarily for the hobby- the thrill of the hunt- and the fact that silver is easily worth more than face. It is a wonderful, safe investment that requires time, but not a lot of skill. I'm more of a silver hoarder.

I agree with you about the amount of return, it has definitely dwindled in the last 2 years, but you can find some decent silver if you search quantity. I remember the very first box of halves I ordered was a skunk and then I did not get another skunk for at least two years- this was about 9 years ago. I was spoiled, finding it common to get 40-50 silvers per box and had numerous 100+ boxes. Nowadays, I consider 10 in a box to be good, 20 very difficult to find. I'm sure a few others here also may remember these days, but silver was only around $10 an ounce back then and a lot fewer people were searching.

Either way, as long as I keep finding, I'll keep searching. Every hobby has costs associated, but as long as you enjoy doing it, that is what really matters.

Thanks Silver Eagle...my problem is I don't search very many and I've been going through every coin front to back (looking for the "no FG"). This makes it take a long time to go through each box. If I were to change to just edge searching for silver, it would go much quicker.

Since I've just started, I've been pulling one of each mint mark for each year too...might as well as long as I am going through them.

Thanks again.

Two boxes were both almost skunks until the second to last roll in the second box... A 2003-s Proof. Here's to hoping next week yields some silver!!

Silver Eagle you mentioned that tellers keepstuff in eenvelopes to buy later... Well. If I ask a teller if they have such things.
. And they said no. Then they'd be lying right?

I pulled a 40% and a proof from a teller tray today, out of $12.50. Better than nothing, and not bad considering I wasn't even going to bother stopping at a bank today.

BOXES 566-573 from out of town were very disappointing.
One box was already searched and folded on the ends.

Lots of BU coins

BISH, What is your camera set up for taking pictures. I'm not in to the whole photography thing much, but was wondering if there is some key or lighting trick to make the pictures show detail like yours.
