JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

I got 7 boxes last week. Went through them this weekend. There was a trend here... and I hope it doesn't stay around. The boxes changed to ones that looked like they are from the 1970s (the font is very old looking and brown in color and the boxes look old in general). They are very different than the regular Brinks boxes which are crisp and new looking with modern black font type. Anyway, two weeks ago, I had one mixed in with my regular pickup. I got pumped since I thought maybe this box was from the 1970s. Nope, it was the worst box I ever had. No uncirculated quality coins, no errors, no NIFC and certainly no silver. This weeks 7 boxes was the exact same! UGH! What's more is that one of these boxes I got from another bank where I normally don't pickup coins from. They asked if I wanted a box of halves. I said yes, when they brought it out, I knew it was going to be crap. So I'm confused at how these boxes are coming out of multiple banks in my area. It almost seems like a person is wrapping them with their own machine and dumping them as full boxes. They're THAT bad!

another weird batch of boxes

box 1) 10-40%, one that you can't read the date but looks like another 40%, a gold plated that is really thick, and my 6th trick coin.
box 2) 1-64, 1-ben, 4-40%, chrome plated with 1960-1980 counter stamped, 3 proofs worth keeping, a 1980 with half the clad missing on the front and some on the back, and a PRISON SHANK.
box 3) cladding 50% gone on front of 1973, gold plated, 2 chrome plated, 1 proof.
box 4) 70s proof that looks silver, 12 proofs worth keeping, 6 clad errors.

lots and lots of coins that had good edges, toned coins, mirror finish that are not S proof coins, looks like I got into someones collection that was dumped. this is the part I always hate, you wonder had I bought more boxes, like my 12 box bank, if you could have gotten into some more silver, or am on on the end where the silver wasn't. I will get 4 more boxes from this bank on thursday so maybe there still may some good stuff left in the pile. after finding the clad errors I also now feel like I have to go through the rest of the batch and look for more errors.


Has anyone had any luck selling books, filled or partially filled, on ebay?

I'm going to keep it around for a box opener, maybe drill a hole and add some paracord

weird batches lately, I pulled a hand full and found some errors, so pretty sure someones stash got dumped, wonder if could trade some of this stuff for silver? are the error coins worth much? I know some of the holy grail stuff is but just the run of the mill stuff on beat up coins?

It has been awhile since I searched halves in quantity but today I did $260 ($100 bank bag, $60 BWR, $100 MWR) and turned up two 40%ers. The one bank I picked the bulk up from still had another grand in the vault, I would hev bought more but figured with that quantity it must've been a dump locale - nope. Oddly enough one of the 40s came from one of that banks BWR! Until next time.

I would look into E-Bay for selling your coins. They tend to sell right at spot price or better if they are just common silver halves.

As an average, you will need to take around 12% off the actual sales price for sellers fees. This amount is an average for E-Bays fees and PayPal's fees. If you sell a lot in one lot, you can save some money by doing a Buy-It-Now option.

It doesn't matter if you add in for your shipping to offer free shipping you get charged the 9-10% no matter what. I finally got a decent box tonight

I have two more boxes to get tomorrow from same bank hopefully I am getting into some good boxes but am not getting my hopes too high
