@Earle42 - I am not sure about the origin of the 1960 / 1980 counterstamped half. The one today was the first I have ran across, and it seems it was stamped after production. If I find out anything, I will try to post it here.

@WVBlueandGold - The chrome plating was probably added by a company which then resold the half as a collectors coin or the like. To be honest, it is a nice looking coin but I am not aware of it being worth more than face value. I am keeping it anyway. :)

I was searching for some stuff on the trick coins I found and there are magic tricks that they do with the silver and gold plated halves, as I found the chrome and gold with all the trick coins I am guessing that's what some of these we find are for.

2 boxes today.

3 NIFC and a beat up 1982 proof.

That makes only 3 40%ers out of the last 11 boxes

After going through the coins, looking for errors, I am pretty convinced I picked up someones dump. I saw tons of marked coins, and almost all were in rough shape. So, not a good thing to see when these two boxes are only boxes 4 and 5 from my new supplying bank.

Odd thing is that I have YET to find a doubled die to date and I have looked through more boxes than I can recall. Heck, I haven't even found the 74 version so many say is common.

The last boxes I had were full of marked coins, whoever is marking they are now marking the coins that you would take a look at, coins with square corners that look like proofs, they have also been scratching up the face of the coins they mark, so even if it was a good coin it's not anymore.

Picked up 6 boxes at lunch. I openeded them all and only one had enders showing.

3 rolls with 40%ers showing.

I ended up with 25 40%ers and a 1964 breaking my Chase skunk streak of $7K.

Hopefully the other 5 boxes will produce some more when I get home.

I went on a little road trip this morning with a pocket full of cash. I picked up about $3300 worth of halves and dollars. I was only able to look through about $400 worth of the dollar coins and I'm pretty certain that I'm looking at someone's dump. No proofs and no 1981 SBAs. I have found 3 1979 Near Dates, which isn't too bad. I didn't get to look at the halves at all. I'll try to see how many 1971s and 1974s this guy dumped when I get home from ny son's lacrosse game.

I do have 8 boxes to look forward to tomorrow if today was a waste.

Went through the other five boxes and scored 3 1964's and 2 40%ers.

I also found a sticker coin for my growing collection of reject Kennedy's and 2 really beat up clads one of which was next to one of the 40%ers in a roll.

I just discovered that all of the rolls I bought today are marked. It's a sneaky little mark, but it's there. Oh well. I'm looking anyway

I was just being a smart*** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Bypassing the filter and making the intended word obvious anyway is completely unacceptable. *** about the marks because I didn't see them earlier. Usually there are big black checks or Xs and these were small silver sharpie marks that I just overlooked.
