ben, why do you think the lower price will increase 40% circulation? The thought came in to my head as well but the reality is if you are educated about 40% halves and you need money quick, you can still go down to the local pawn shop or lcs and do way better than face value. I just can't come up with any reason that the lower silver price would affect circulated silver halves, unless silver went back to $10-$12/oz.

I actually used to do counts of halves by year and mint mark too. But by 30,000 coins, you kinda get the hang of what's tough to find and what's not. And 30,000 isn't by way of bragging... plenty of people here have searched WAY more than me.

For me, the coins I always keep when I find them... the 64-70 silvers, proofs, 79D, 82D, 87P&D, 03D, 04P, 05D, 08P&D. And of all of those, the 87P&D and the 08P&D have been the most elusive.

For awhile, I couldn't seem to find 98D either, and thought they must have become rare. But eventually, I started finding them often enough.

Occassionally I take the time to look for 72-D "no FG" errors, but that's not really a big one with me.

My consistent silver run continues. Last night was awesome. I picked up four of my boxes. All four had silver. I found some error coins as well, including my first 77d DDO. I haven't finished looking through my potential DDO coins (71d, 72d, 73d, & 77d). I look at the 74d as I go because I can spot them with naked eye. A teller I'd given a coffee/ tea gift card to a while back called about a small bag of halves a guy had cashed in. ($48 - no keepers but good to get a call)

My favorite teller at my dump no longer works there and her coworker informed me they are going to charge for my dumps. They've been good to take them up till now really. It's a sub branch in a grocery store by the house. It was very convenient but I have another dump that takes large bags so no big deal. I don't move near the coin you guys do. A different bank should have a box for me in a day or so and I'm thinking of opening a credit union account.

Anyone have pros & cons on local CU's?

I finished off the second box I had last weekend, which was another skunk on silver, but did net me a few more NIFCs, a gold plated half, a Panama half, 2 '74-DDOs, and my first '87-D. I went through another box last Monday, but was skunked except for a few NIFCs. I picked up another box yesterday and found my first silver from an ordered box, a lonely '65, but that ended my $3k+ skunk streak.

I also managed to find my first Magician's coin, as well as another '74-DDO. I need to get some pictures of these DDOs I've been finding to post. It seems lately I've been finding quite a few of them. This was my first box from this bank and from this courier since the box looked different than every other box I have gone through.

I'm supposed to pick up another box today from a different bank whose courier I am unsure of. Hopefully this box will yield something nice!
