I bet someone got a hold of someone else's silver half collection and just cashed them in not knowing. I often wonder if they were stolen or maybe given to someone with no clue.

@Monks - I appreciate that. I'm officially wishing you good luck. I hope my well wishes are as successful for you.

@tkachukdude - I live in Oklahoma. I've done well recently but I haven't seen the 2001S. My brinks wrappers look similar to yours but they are white with brown lettering. I use BofA. I'm curious which bank you use.

total for 3 boxes today:

box 1 - Proof, 1 1983P FG error
Box 2 - 67, bunch of NIFC, Gold Plated Bicentennial
Box 3 - Skunk...but...I found this? 1980 P Kennedy on possible Silver planchet? Pretty weird I've never come across this. I posted it on the error Forums..

6 boxes on Thursday.

5 40%ers's and a bunch of NIFC.

4 boxes today.

4 40%ers, 2 proofs, 7 NIFC, 1974-D DDO, a 1974 that was in a fire and the core bubbled up, and a half that someone soldered the reverse up.

Okay, need to update my results on the two boxes I did about two weeks ago.

In addition to 2 40% halves and a 1972-D No FG, I also accumulated 4 NIFCs and a decent
1971-D Broadstike.

Didn't do any boxes this past week. Funds are tighter with taxes out and dumping the halves has became
an issue at one of my credit union locations. Still have alternate banks to dump at and may do 2-4 more
this coming week.

what does it sound like and what does it weigh? that would be a very rare score. it is possible that it was struck on an SBA dollar planchet but from the photos the thickness does not indicate this. possibly a foreign planchet was used but unlikely.

if you want it sent to NGC for verification, I can set you up with my account and get it graded.

I would definitely get it weighed first and check what a local dealer says about it. don't believe everything he tells you, just ask and see what his initial reaction is and you will know if it's a keeper.

contact me if you want to send it in. good luck. hope it's the real deal.

btw, I'm in SCal as well.

Bank forgot to order my boxes. Right before I left I looked at my friendly tellers tray and saw silver. Sure enough, when I bought them, 2 were 68Ds!

hard to tell from photos if it's plated, good chance of that too seeing the thickness of the coin compared to the rest.

Im going to guess lated on that half as well, thats what it looks like to me. If it was 77 or 71, better chance of being a real jackpot. As was said the drop test and weight should confirm.

6 boxes of halves. 5 40%er's (2 gold plated), 3 lowball one from each decade, 1 1982 no FG no serif, 1 1982 no FG, a few PMD for my reject set, and a couple of NIFC.

In 7 Loomis rolls of cents I use to salt my bags of halves when dumping to keep the tellers honest I also found a 1930 wheat, a 2005 Canadian, and a marked penny. Seriously, who marks pennies?
