It looks like you actually have the clashed version which is VAM-12A. I always like the VAMs that have a nickname.

Hey Cmcart... the alligator eye is a common but highly collected "entry level" VAM. It was not an intentional error. Just like other top list vams this one had some nice and prominent eye catching features on the die that was used.

Given the spread on the eye, I've always wondered why the rest of the obverse wasn't more prominently doubled.
