Hate to make two post for the same coin ....

I had posted in Classic coins

SsuperDdave posted there that is might be a VAM10 or VAM2

Not sure if my pictures are good enough to tell.
I tried taking pictures using tripod ..
I think most times my pictures are not good enough
for a good ID. .. But here goes.

I looked at all the VAM's for this date. I could not
find any die markers to help identify it.

All we have for VAM-2 is one mint mark detail from a worn coin. In your detail images I can see that same tilt. Based on that very insufficient data, I'm calling it VAM-2.

Two 1894-S VAMs - 7 and 8 - have insufficient data to determine if they should be eliminated. The " VAM Not Assigned" page has another "set right" mint mark with a little tilt too....

And note, since VAMworld is a Wiki, any information placed there could have come from someone with no idea what they were doing. I bet very little of that exists, but they haven't structured the site to eliminate the possibility. Further, the well-intentioned types who just have it wrong are going to be populating the more arcane VAMs, not the easily-identifiable ones.

Thanks Dave

I just got back from a LCS ... where they have better eyes than mine.

They also thought it might be a VAM 2.

I understand what you are saying, about how little information
there is for this date.

On other dates I have looked up, there much more information
and pictures to help identify the different VAM's

That is just my opinion.
