The only threat to the coins would be contamination from the Cool Whip (whatever that is, I am guessing some sort of foodstuff). Make sure the the container is thoroughly cleaned out.
I use recycled peanut butter screw cap jars, for the bulk storage of coins. The ones I use are not made of glass, but P.E.T., (Poly Ethylene Terephthalate), which is commonly used for clear plastic soda drink bottles.
P.E.T. is a colorless very clear recyclable plastic, much like thin glass to look at. The advantage is that if the jar is dropped when full of coins, there won't be be hundreds of tiny sharp glass splinters to pick up; the container merely splits.
I have seen P.E.T. bottles filled with water, used as boat fenders. They have to be very strong to be used in such a manner.

It's the blown-sugar fluff you put on top of a piece of pie. Whipped cream. It was also for a while a popular thing for kids to steal because they made a canned, compressed version which used nitrous oxide as the propellant. Kids stole cans and "huffed" the propellant off the top for a quick buzz (their design was intended to be used upside-down). When I ran a convenience store in the 1990's it was our single most-stolen item and a genuine concern. My less-sharp employees would lose the entire stock in an evening.
