Hi everyone,

I have 1 roll of each President so far wrapped by Dunbar. But I also have P&D Rolls from the U.S. Mint. Should I continue saving the Dunbar rolls, or should I sell them to my local coin shop and use that money to buy coins for my collection?

Thank you in advance,
-Ben

I would wait till next year or 2 to see if the letting come off the rim & on to obverse & reverse. You may have a better return on $200.00 or $400.00 if you wait

For the first year, I went " Presidential dollar" crazy ! I'm not going to continue that for the remainder of the 16 year program. I was maintaining two books, 4 rolls "D" mint & 4 rolls "P" mint of each president all uncirculated/unopened packaged by the Mint, 4 proof sets (and have them with the silver proof set), several singles, and even the individual proofs....... first year is definately covered..... but as members pointed out the likely value will never be anything other than minimal because everybody has them and they're not going to ever really be a circulating coin. 35 years from now or 2 years from now, i'd be lucky.... REALLY LUCKY to just get even money for these items. 10 years from now someone who just starts the " Presidential dollar Program" might be interested in "uncirc. rolls" and various items pertaining to it, but likely they will not be in short supply at all........ therefore "cheap". As I've been advised from other members here on "the whole Presidential dollar thing" and it seems pretty keen important info for someone with plans on collecting Pres. dollar rolls and/or related items.
I started with the quarters in 2005-2006 and found all states in unciculated rolls except about 7 I think. All rolls from banks or family and circulated ones too. But the Presidential dollar thing will be even easier because of the grotesquely high mintage numbers and other factors............

I am filling one Dansco album. That's what I plan on keeping. I also have some 2x2'd singles laying around that I've kept for trading or b/c of a minor minting issue ( Grease Filled Die). They don't seem to be circulating, which means they're all in bank vaults staying nice and clean. I think you'll be ok with spending them or following what amac44 said above.

That's what "my" plan was too....... but it's no longer looking like the date and IGWT will ever be moved now according to some members. But of course I still have hope that that would happen at some point. Have you heard anything new on Congressional plans to proceed with that ?
I like the PDS book thoughts, but don't know if I'd ever want to open a "proof case" to make that book.......never done that before.

Crack those rolls open, keep one or two of the best overall for your collection and spend the rest like cash.

Same as everyone else. Break them open. But here is a suggestion. Give some as Christmas Presents. Tape to a Christmas Card, give to relatives and friends.

Well the House passed it, the Senate scrapped it. Then with them running nearly three months late on getting the appropriations bills for fiscal year 2008 passed (By law they have to be passed and signed by Sept 30th because the next fiscal year starts Oct 1st.), they threw all the spending bills into one giant omnibus spending bill and passed it. Someone slipped into that spending bill an amendment to move IGWT from the edge to the obverse leaving everything else on the edge. They also included language extending the State Quarters program another year for the Territories and DC. That's something the House has passed fur times and the Senate has never acted on. (This is based n a report on the PCGS forum, and the reporter actually quoted the text from the bill so it is probably correct.) These edge changes are to go into effect as soon as reasonably possible. This could cause a problem since the designs for the first couple dollars were already chosen and probably the dies have already been made and coins for Monroe already struck This may mean a change over part way through the year.
