No, that's how the word is formally spelled. My local library carries at least one newspaper with "Hawai'i" on its masthead.

This blog goes into some detail regarding the use of the apostrophe in "Hawaii". Apparently, since 1999, the official government attitude seems to be that in general, the apostrophized version of the word is used to refer to the Big Island itself, while the non-apostrophized version refers to the state as a whole. Which is why both forms of the word appear on this coin.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Dent as in damage to the coin. If it were on the die, it would be raised. The outside devices on the ATB Quarters are incuse because they are raised on the die.
Raised on the die= incuse (recessed)devices on the coin.
recessed into the die = raised devices on the coin.

teachmind111: If you don't have a coin to compare it to I suggest googling the coin in question. A simple search of "hawaii 2012 quarter" yeilds images like the one SsuperDdave posted that serve as a really nice reference.

Also check out some of these sites for quarters if you think you've found a doubled die or want to know some coins you should look out for:
