I'm hoping our local Henning expert Pyrbob is still around and can take a look. Had to give it a shot for the price... ... Oregon coin geek.....*** GO BEAVS ! ! ! ***

I love this hobby. Where else can you engage in scholarly conversation about the authenticity of counterfeits, as counterfeits?

I believe it is a Henning. Mikey a plain ol 44 should have a mint mark above the Dome on the reverse.

It's missing the looped R, but he had several reverse dies, if memory serves. Based on how "soft" it is, I would say that this is more likely to be a genuine counterfeit than a Greaser or filed off mintmark.

I have 5 of the Henning War nickles 2 1943 P's 2 1944 D's and a 1945 S mint mark and the lettering on the reverse matches all the ones I have. And a filed off mark would also damage the wording above the mint mark.

Yep that is an authentic Henning counterfeit. I was watching that one on ebay. You picked it up for a good price. This is one without the hole in the R.
