I found this on top of a soda vending machine at work last week and this is the FYI of the LMC. Boy I surely have some strange luck finding old coins in odd places.

Actually I once found a 1943 steel Wheatie in a old heating vent at school when I was a kid.

One of the advantages of being tall (6'4") is that I can see the tops of machines like this. I occasionally find coins set there and forgotten. The pop machine at work was the source of a quarter almost 2 or 3 times a month until one night I figured out why... One night I was working late and saw that the cleaning crew would sweep them up and put them there. Since I was the tallest guy around I was the guy who found them. I then told the crew that if they found coins there they could keep them.
I found a few rejects on CoinStar machines this way as well, sometimes interesting ones as well.

Most times I would find coins near parking meters where some days I could clear around a couple bucks easy. I found a 1917 Mercury dime that way. Other times I will look at the coin returns for news paper boxes and push the coin return lever and sometimes 3 quarters would come out or even as many as 20 I also looked in vending machine change returns and pay phone change returns as well. My mom once got 2 Indian Head pennies in change and she thought they were foreign money till I showed her the reverse side which said United States of America and the fact they were both from the 1890's.

I'm 6ft 1, and I'm 16. I do this all the time at the vending machine at school...
Wait no, often times it's my friend who's like 5ft 4 and jumps on top of the machine to look for money LOL!

Memorials are tough; I'd have to throw AU50 out based on what I see of the face and steps. Technical grade only, of course, as the obverse stuff on the coat probably makes it a Details coin.

To bad it wasn't a 1959 with a wheat back. Supposed to be some out there. As to height. Don't be to happy about being tall. My Doctor told me that possibly 90% of people over 6 feet have back problems. Now I wonder if really short people find coins on the ground easier.

yeah too bad it wasn't a 1959 Wheatie Memorial. But I can't complain about height it's genetic in both sides of the family my cousin is 6'11" tall my uncle is 6'7" tall and my aunt was 6' tall. My only problem was my big feet and getting hammer toes already had surgery to fix that last summer. BTW I am from New Holland Michigan Dutch stock which will explain the height.
