VAMs are not designated for die cracks, because it can be assumed that the majority of die pairs of Morgans cracked at one point. So the best use of die cracks in VAMming is as a confirming attribute rather than the feature which defines the variety.

I am with Dave with the use of die cracks to attribute VAMs. I discourage the use of them, since they are progressive, and you can find the same VAM with and without cracks, or in between (progressive cracks).

While the photos you provide are tuff to discern, I am pretty sure you have a VAM-39. The info on VamWorld for this VAM is limited, however, the singleton photo should nail your coin to a VAM-39.

In my opinion, cracks are a "back door" approach to VAMming. You may be able to attribute the coin, label it and put it in a slot as though you were filling out a Dansco album. All the while you miss the information about the die and it's evolution and relation to other dies. Still, there are times when a detective will use a fingerprint when a mug shot is not available. And we find that a crack guide can get us started in building a data base for some series such as the 1921's.

Cracks are only useful when they're useful. When they're not, they will lead you astray. One way they are useful, though, is in teaching you to how interpret die states. You can see how the EDS example you're basing your research on became the LDS you hold, and vice versa.

The VAM-69 was delisted as the same as VAM-24. The m/m placement of your coin does not match the V24/69. I still think you have a VAM-39.
