I found an old looking coin at my grandmas today, it doesn't have a date on it that I can see and I've never seen what like it. It looks like parts are cut off.

to the forum.

That coin has the obverse (front side) of a Walking Liberty half dollar, which were minted from 1916 to 1947.

I can sort of see a date of 1944; however, I'm not positive on that. The date appears below Lady Liberty's feet.

It appears to have suffered some kind of damage around the rim, because the date should be a lot clearer to see than it is.

Can you post a picture of the reverse (back side)?

It does have a date on it - looks like "1944" below Liberty's left foot.

It does, however, have a much wider tim than a normal Walking Liberty half dolalr. The rim has not been "cut off", but rather it has been folded over. This coin has a "spooned rim". This can happen either by accident (such as being caught in an industrial dryer and rolling around in it for a few years) or deliberately (say, a bored prisoner tapping away at the coin repeatedly with a spoon). But either way, it is "damage", rather than a "mint error".
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

In case you were wondering,it's silver and it's worth somewhere around $10.

It makes a nice little keepsake.

WELCOME!

It looks like a Dryer Coin. The rim was pushed in continually because the coin took a spin in the dryer machine, thus, curving it inwards.

I agree with Buddy in her assessment of value.

Dryer coin... maybe.

Kind of looks like someone was trying to turn it into a ring to me.

Maybe not.

The ugly type with the design only in the inside. You tap it with a hammer til it's the right size and then punch out the middle.people do it with walkers more then anything else.
