How would you guys grade this 1794 large cent? It has even, original surfaces. No porosity, verdigris or corrosion. Thank you,

Nice Sheldon S-71 variety. R.2 rarity designation. The reverse shows a characteristically weak strike in the center that plagues all "Head of 95" coins. It has a few hits but nothing very distracting. I like that the rim is full with only minimal damage. Nice planchet with even color. Another great coin GERMANICVS. I love any reason to pull out Penny Whimsy and turn to the 1794s. I will grade this coin EAC 10. I would like to grade it higher but technically I can't. 1794 S-71 R.2 10/10.

I agree with celticsouls comments. Pretty much spot on. I had it at F12. He is the EAC guru. Someday it would be cool to see all of your pre 1800 cents side by side in one picture

I don't know if I'd call myself an EAC guru but thanks for the compliment.

Not only do I enjoy reading your descriptions but taking the time to determine the other attributes is much appreciated. I always learn something from them

I agree, Celticsoul is an invaluable member here at CCF when it comes to coppers. Both early and later date. Of course, there are other members here too who are versed in coppers and have an interest in this field. Love reading their comments as well.
As for the coin, I keep coming and going myself between VG8 and VG10, which is where most of you had it at. Probably closer to VG8 imo.

I'm in at VG10 as well, super nice 1794, these are getting really hard to find in any condition that has enough detail remaining on both sides to attribute easily. 10 years ago this coin was well under $50, today try $250+
