I need help figuring out what I have, grade, worth, etc... Not sure about about all the rules so I apologize if I break any. I was at a yard sale over the weekend and was able to purchase these coins.

Very nice! The gold content alone is worth almost $600!

I'm no expert at all but if real I think it could be worth quite a bit over $1k. It looks like an 1846-O $10 Gold Eagle. Let's see what the pros say, but I can tell you they will probably want better pics.

How much did you pay for it?

1846 O is one of the most common dates. You could probably sell it to a dealer for $575 to $585 and buy it for $625 to $650 if it's cleaned or VF-20. If it grades higher, there would be quite a premium!

Nice find -- 1846-O might be more common than some of the pre-1878 Eagles, but it's not really a common date bullion coin (like 1901, for example).
The 1846-O is possibly as uncommon as any $10 I have.
The "6" looks large -- I wonder if it could be the 1846/5 variety, or is it just the photo?

Good for you--you carry lots of cash?
Where did you find these treasures?

Yea buddy that's a nice score right there! That ten dollar gold piece is worth that alone what you paid. I'm jealous

I would've paid $750 all day long. I normally carry a few hundred when I go to local garage sales in case I find some good coins. Since I mainly go to them looking for silver and coins

What is the mintmark on that 1911 eagle. It is next to the points of the bundle of arrows on the reverse (back).

Well those garage sellers didn't know what they had or didn't care. Great score.

Amazing. I wonder if the seller had any idea of what they were selling.
