Information on the 1846-O $10 http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/8595

On that link above, Doug Winter writes that the 1846/5-O variety was proven not to be an overdate.

Based on the mint mark location, I'm going to say this is Variety 4.

Quite the score for a yard sale.

It is getting to be that time of the year again. I may have to go looking through some garage sales to see if I can find anything worth bringing home. Great score and to CCF

I knew it was a good deal on the gold. Didn't know if it'd be worth more as a collectable. I did look up the $10 coin and couldn't find much on it.

The gold content alone is worth well over $1200, and the numismatic value of those pre-1933 gold coins adds some value. That would had been a steal for almost twice what you paid. Excellent find!

If the 1911 half eagle has a "D" for a mintmark, you definitely hit a grand slam. Most likely, it will be "S".

I would like to see better close ups of the 1911 for sure.
Please post if you can.
Maybe post a new thread under the classic grading section.

Thanks

The mint mark on the 1911$5 is a little hard to read but it looks like it say "S". I will try to post better quality pictures.

To say I'm jealous would be the understatement of the century. Well done!

...After reading this post, I'm sure many of the CC members have made plans to go find some garage sales over the next few weekends...
