Any help with this Dime, well it looks like there is doubling on the words Liberty With only the (B) (E) and (R), But I really don't know about the date 1979 with only the 9 and 7 outstanding from the rest. What I really want to know is, is it common for the Mint Mark J's to look like a JB or just a blob. Any suggestions

It just looks like wear and post-mint damage to me. I could be wrong.

Struck by very worn dies. We call it Die Deterioration Doubling. It is very common and adds no extra value.

Thanks,
Bill

That is not the mintmark, it is the designer initials- John Sinnock.

Edit: I have silver dimes on the brain The mintmark on clad dimes is on the obverse by the date.

actually the mint mark moved to the obverse on the dimes in 1968 and would be just above the date ,, this is a philly coin ,,No mint mark .
