Here is a coin that I purchased off of ebay for $44.00. Now here's the story ... It was advertised as an Off Center and based on my experience in a stamping plant for 25 years, I instinctively know the planchet did not fully enter the dies and was struck Off Center (or what is called Off Location in a stamping operation). But in the hobby many call these Uncentered Broadstrikes. I've always been troubled by the definition, that if you can see all the design elements, it's a Broadstrike, either being Centered or Uncentered. In some cases this could be applied but in cases like this, it is obvious that the planchet die not fully enter the collar onto the lower die. So what do you think? Uncentered Broadstrike or Off Center. Also, look the coin over and tell me if you see anything troubling. I'll report upon what troubles me after I get the coin (should be tomorrow). Oh ya, did I get ripped?

Well, now that you make me think about it.... To me this is a broadstrike, but I'm less bothered by the definition than you are. Odd, that - most everything bothers me. I don't like the planchet condition of the reverse, and the multiple rims above WE TRUST. The date is odd, too, with the 1 off the plane of the 2 and the zero being so weak. As is the appearance (judging from the light play) that the fields aren't exactly flat. Like the color, though, and it's a terrific strike.

I believe it is an off center. The area at 5:00 on the obverse looks like the full die did not make contact in that area. Not making it a broadstrike. It was so close though. Still a great error though.

Looks like a little "ghosting" in there too.

Thats a gorgeous coin with a great error...Looks like a Broadstrike/Offcenter to me, but, I'm not too versed in errors.

Is this also a 180 degree rotated die? Looks like a monster strike. Would be nice to know what a TPG grades it.

No, it should be coin alignment.

Nice looking coin and I would say off centre too. The fields seem to show a roughness beyond that of regular die wear..or maybe its me. great toning be it natural or AT

I would call it an uncentered broadstrike. A MS coin with great eye appeal. Beautiful coin

Appears to be broadstrike but slightly raise up like die cap from the pictures. Interesting!

I like it ken, but I'd like to think of it as a single coin, pre cluster error Looks like you can almost drink out of that thing and for only $44; Score Can't wait for YOUR pics!

It finally got here last Friday after a long wait thanks to the post office. The coins is very nice. It has a bit of "cabinet friction" but I can live with that.
