It was the result of a bad batch of insert rings that didn't have the UV stabilizer in it. That caused it to discolor. You don't see them very often, and it will not harm the coin. NGC had a similar problem with a batch of their inserts on the NGC 5 slabs that caused the white inserts to turn a yellow cream color.

Finally dug up my green ringed Peace dollars. There is a fourth one also, but not as green. Funny, it was a submission of 7 dollars, and the 4 Peace dollars' rings turned green, but not the 3 Morgans. There was another thread on this, but couldn't find it.

I like the contrast between the green and the coin. I would also like to know why only Peace dollars were affected...
