I picked this up today at my local B&M . I think it may have been a little under-graded and I would like some opinions on it. I will post purchased grade later in this thread.

Sleaklight...I love You man ! I don't think the strike is quite strong enough for anything over 65...but I like the way you think for sure! The pictures are very accurate as far as showing hits, the obv is nearly mark -free. Most of the very light marks on the obv appear to be from the planchet due to strike weakness- they are very hard to see even with my 10X. The reverse has a couple hits on the belly and a couple smaller hits up the leg mixed in with the planchet roughness once again. I think it is a solid 64 for sure...but I am not telling what it was graded and purchased for quite yet.

I would say 64. Is the luster totally gemmy?

Yes Prethen, this is a nice lusterous coin , although I have seen some with more "shine" ..another reason I would not go over MS-64-65 for this coin. Not quite what I would call "totally gemmy" but very close. There is one in the case at the shop graded MS-66..now that coin practically glows , and the strike is super nice! I hope to procure either that one or an undergraded 65 in the near future. Not sure pictures could do justice to the luster on those.

If it weren't for that gouge in the belly on the reverse I might go higher.

Thanks for the opinions ! I purchased the coin graded MS-60, don't know how they missed that one but it happens. At MS-60 it is a 12 dollar coin...but a 65 is a 50 dollar coin, and even a 64 is about 30 bucks, so it works for me ! I have another purchased at the same grade but it is not very lustrous and I think I am going to do some before and after cleaning pictures of that one, it might go 63-64 after a good scrubbing...he he
