He is a group of Punched marked coins from the Mauryan empire of India. These coins are from the 4th-2nd century BC. They are difficult to attribute but certain punches where know to be used during the time of the great Ashoka 268-232 BC. You can read about the empire here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurya_EmpireThese coins are silver and advantage 17 to 12 mm, and from 2.9. to 3.4 grams. Lets see what you all have. Post your coins here.

Interesting coin and counter mark, don't know anything about that one. Not quite what what I was referring to though. Punched marked coins are mostly from India and surrounding areas. They are different than counter marked coins.

Quote: Come on I can't believe Chris and I are the only two that have this type, there has got to be out there. Les see them. Now you know how I feel when I post Siliqua. That is the one bad thing about collecting ancients, there simply is way to much to cover and buy. I specialize in late Roman coins and Siliqua. I don't see many Siliqua on the forums, nor do I receive too many responses when I post Siliqua in threads. AN has a similar problem with his cool eastern coins. This is because we specialize in certain denominations or coins from one Empire or kingdom.. We are a sub group of a sub group of a group( Specialization ex. Siliqua or coins of funan< Ancients in general< Coin collecting) So when I post Siliqua I usually get " oh thats cool" ( which is not bad and I thank people for taking the time to type those kind words) , but no in depth responses.

Yeah, my thing is late Roman, Byzantine, Germanic kingdoms, and early European medieval, and this along with not having a large budget to buy top-notch stuff within my collecting areas, makes it difficult to drum up interest.
