Has anyone else seen the video where they drop a slab'd coin into a fish bowl implying they are going to have Water Proof Slabs soon?

I saw it on FB but can't find it again to post.

Yup. I saw it on FB as well. Who needs sunken ships & porcelan skeletons when you can decorate your aquarium with real (graded) pirate booty?

You notice the fish doesn't react when the slab is dropped it? And you can do the same thing with a current slab. Most of them are pretty water resistant and it will take awhile for the water to seep in unless it is under pressure.

Is there anything on the PCGS website about this and not facebook?

That is PCGS's actual Facebook page, which is just as good as a website in terms as legitimacy. Still, it'll be interesting to see their follow-up on the video.

I have called my PCGS slabs "drool protectors" but this is ridiculous!

I love my coins but I don't want to make bath toys out of them.

So if they're water tight they must by definition be completely air tight... monster toner protection anyone?

And with that, You don't think they will pass the cost of the new holder on to us do you. Now the saying buy the holder and consider the coin second?

They can't even offer their trademarked "edgeview" holders in 2015 for current year slabbed commems but now they have a slab that has enough fiber in it that it now floats

Air tight means that once the oxygen trapped inside the holder has reacted with the coin (toned), no more oxygen can enter. Next they might try oxygen displacement with an inert gas. I would think that is cheaper than evacuated slabs, but I could be wrong.

I do not think so. Different fluids with different densities and different properties.

Yes jbucK but to be water proof doesn't that mean that the seal would have to be able to handle more than 1 atmosphere of pressure which I would think prevents air penetrating at sea level and above, no?
