Well for a pawn shop $26.50 seems to be a norm-ish but still overpriced. Doesn't seem terrible but not good at all

The 1923 St Gaudens is about $3-500 over typical auction hammer prices. The 1878-CC....isn't really out of the question at that price if it makes the grade. They regularly hammer over $9k these days. That's odd, it's the one I'd expect them to hype as a Carson City coin.

Are they subject to sales tax?

The ASE's are about what you'd find a your LCS, a little high but not outrageous. I have seen people pay way .... way more at auction.

SD, I think so. I remember when I bought a 2009 $100 bill graded 67 that I got the price down $20 bur couldn't get them to throw in the tax. And as for grade I'm sure ngc is generous with him as he has that Doogie howser looking ngc grader on as an expert sometimes. Notice you don't see any pcgs plastic. I'm not sure if its 57th St type grading or not but I am sure he gets preferential treatment

As a big fan of their show I made a point to visit their store when I went to vegas for the first time last summer. They had souvenir one ounce silver rounds with the picture of the "old man" on it. $60 please. Uh...yeah a silver round is right up my ally but I'm not paying %250 over spot for it.

Coins/bullion were priced a bit on the salty side when I visited a few years ago.

Thats funny. I paused and zoomed in when I watched this episode as well. I guess I'm not the only sick one lol.

I didn't think much of the prices because even though it's a "new" episode, we don't know the date it was made. Secondly, when have you ever went into a pawn shop and paid the sticker price?

I went a few years ago and ended up buying two pretty good National Bank notes from them. They didn't want to haggle but they finally saw the light and came down a few hundred dollars on a 2300$ purchase.

(And yes, they did charge me sales tax, too!)

Their 15 minutes of fame is running on overtime. I hope the guys have squirreled away some of that money cause they are gonna need it to help pay for their medical care as the diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems start kicking in.
