Got this pretty puppy back today! Beautiful example of a 'woodie'! What do you guys think?

Wonderful coin. Although I'm not entirely sure what a 'woodie' is- whenever I've seen that streaking, I thought was just the reminders of improper cleaning.

A woodie is when the alloy is not properly mixed and then the metals tone differently and unevenly creating the stripes.
Very beautiful coin!

These are underappreciated and far rarer than the S/VDB Lincoln in such a grade. Only a handful are extant in higher grade than this one. A pretty significant piece, and worth a pretty significant price for an IHC.

Lol, I somehow seem to keep almost everything I intend to sell, and a statement like this makes me want to reevaluate if I want to sell it or not!

I'm so under informed about copper... love it but, find myself not understanding "how" it will/is graded as to surfaces, "colored" etc.
Yours is beeeeeutiful! So what grade did it receive? How is it described on the slab insert?
Nice penny!!
edit: Numisma... I actually have the coin your using for your avatar! Is that your coin? own it? Just curious as to what value these have. You don't see'em for sale often. The old insert that came w/mine says "Edward III 3cent? (pence?) or something like that.

Congrats on getting your coin back ... and getting such a good grade As mentioned, you don't see 1909 S Indian heads like this very often. maybe in the larger coin shows. Not sure what this coin would sell at. But a quick look, numismedia price guide shows MS65 RB at $2840 That is a very very nice coin

That would fit perfect in my IHC album. But I probably couldn't afford it. I have several LWC woodies, but nothing that nice. Beautiful Coin

For the record, the grade was in the filename of the images. That's why I was able to comment so specifically about it.
