Here is my 1855 large cent that I would
like opinions as to grading and variety type.
The last 5 is lower than the rest of the date,
anyone know the variety?
It looks nicer in hand than the scan.
Thanks guys

If you can lighten the pictures up a little ? they are real dark.

I'd put this one at VF-20 in terms of wear. However, it looks slightly porous due to light corrosion which will definitely hurt the value. The pinkish color in your lightened photo looks a bit suspicious and could be the result of an old cleaning. It could however just be from the photo processing.

This looks to be the "upright 5s" variety. The other major 1855 type has both 5s slanted to the right. Values are the same for these two varieties. There is a "knob on ear" version of the slanted 5s type which carries a premium. I don't know if there are any sub-varieties for the upright 5s type.

I agree with the VF-20 grade.

From what I can tell, the last 5 being lower than the other 5 is standard for this 'Upright 5s' variety.
