AU55. Based on the photos that looks like wear on the cheek and on the eagle's leg. The photo almost gives the appearance that someone was trying to cover up blemishes on the cheek. I've been dead wrong on grading some of these dollars, because what looks like wear could just be luster breaks due to rubbing up on other coins, but this coin exhibits what appears to be wear in the field (in front of Liberty), too.

I think it is uncirculated. Maybe MS-60 or 61?

I have to agree with the AU grades. I purchased it for an AU price of 15 dollars. Not a bad looking coin with a little light rim toning and a pretty solid strike. There a quite a few small hits and scratches in the obv and rev fields that are not really visible in the pictures- I could not get them to show through the slab. The wear is just a bit to much IMO for "roll rub" so I am going to go AU-55. Maybe we should start the CCGS (Coin Community Grading Service) as these grades are much closer than the one you are about to see...

I still have so much to learn about grading Peace dollars, but that looks like wear to me as well in the places Prethen pointed out. I'll go au-55 as the actual grade, MS-64 acg.

Hello
That's pretty funny. I have an MS64 morgan. Better send it to ACG bet it comes back MS71 :)

Wow, I am kind of surprised with the miss on this one by ACG. I have been actually been very satisfied with their grading in the past and have purchased several coins in their slabs. AU on this one though.

AU on this one though. My favourite ACG story is the one where someone had an acg graded coin with an added mintmark that was in the process of falling off (still in the holder). The coin was brought to the acg table at a show where it was presented to the actual owner of the company. This gentleman took the coin, turned his back to the customer, and after a loud 'crack', turned back around and commented along the lines of 'very interesting RAW coin you have here'. I guess that's the acg guarantee.......'if it's misgraded or counterfeit, we'll get it right back out of that holder for ya!' Oh, my!

As long as we're talking Accugrade....
I bid on and won an 1833 quarter in a Stack's auction based on a very flattering set of photos and a nice write-up in the auction catalog. The catalog described it as MS-63 choice uncirculated. I assumed it was raw since no grading service was mentioned. When I received the coin I learned it was in an Accugrade holder with the MS-63 grade. It looked dull and lifeless in-hand, not at all the way it appeared in the catalog photos. I sent it back for examination and a Stack's numismatist reported that it actually graded "MS-60, cleaned". They apologized for not properly describing the coin and refunded my money.
Stack's messed up on their catalog this time, but the larger lesson is that Accugrade is capable of serious overgrading and will not necessarily report existing defects when they slab "problem" coins. Based on Hadleydog's story, I would also be suspicious about their ability to authenticate. I have seen beautiful coins in Accugrade holders, but you need to be careful.
