Seems like most agree that this is a MS64. Well. Here's what NGC called it:

Interesting.....there must be something on the cheek that is just not showing in the photos good? The fields look problem free.....the cheek is the only concerning spot for me.

Maybe the fingerprint on the stars in front of liberty's face had something to do with it as well?

Boy, I'm not seeing that at all, either. Maybe it ought to be broken out and resubmitted to PCGS to see if it comes back the same.

The fingerprint is only on the slab. Yes, there is actually a couple of tinzy-winzy stripes on the cheek, which I couldn't see when I shipped it, and they are near impossible to see. It's still a wonder to me why they detailed it. When I think of improperly cleaned coins, I would say harshly polished ones etc. No matter, I can't be bothered to resubmit it. In my mind it's problem free, but that's just life, isn't it?

Oops. I was zoomed in on the coin when I saw the print. Those graders see so many that if they notice the slightest sign of a cloth rubbing they might details it. It's happened once or twice to me where they were so fine I didn't notice it until it hit the right angle or under a loupe

Quote: Those graders see so many that if they notice the slightest sign of a cloth rubbing they might details it. probably detailed due to a wipe or a "thumbing". Hence one of the big pitfalls when trying to grade only from static photos. One really needs to be able to let the light wander across the surface and cartwheel to see hints of wipes or thumbing.

Unless there is something that the photo is hiding I would resubmit this coin. I've looked at hundreds of thousands of Morgans in the last 45 years and I see absolutely nothing that would warrant a details grade! There is no broken luster, no hairlines, no polishing, etc. I don't remember if fingerprints warrant a details grade but if so I would think they would have to be very obvious...I do see some slight toning or yellowing on the cheek and maybe this was their concern, if clearer photos of the cheek area can be shown here maybe we could determine if indeed it was cleaned, otherwise I'm stumped.
