Is there a way to make a payment to a friend without either of you paying any fees?

I think you can use the gift option at no fee if your paypal account is linked directly to your checking account. If it is linked to a debit or credit card there is no way of bypassing the fee.

Yes, I think that's right. If a checking (or savings) account is linked to your Paypal account, just click the send money to Friends and Family option, and it's no fees. Only downside, no protection. Also check the Paypal address at least 3 times before you click SEND, there's no turning back at that point

Yup. The friend option is free to both parties. I've used it a few times to sell coins to people I know.

Well I hate to tell you this, it's not free I had to pay $4.38 going from Canada to the US and that's on top of the exchange.

It's always been free for me. Perhaps it's different when it's from one country to another.

Go back and reread the PayPal "Terms of Service".

More than likely, in the small print, you'll find a section regarding "international transactions" where you'll discover that fees are not waived on those types of transfers between different countries.

If in doubt, you can always call PP customer service and they can tell you why you were charged a fee.

Just went and looked it up in the UA.

It's buried in section 8.1 where fees are referenced.

Canada to US, hummm...I think you forgot to mention that part

I had a buyer with a US mailing address pay for something, but their email address was foreign registered (Korea,) so there was an extra fee for me, ugh
