What a rip off Heritage Dallas is.......bought two low value 2001 silver Pandas.....wanted to charge me 55 bucks to send them to UK....told them to hold so I could buy another coin next auction and combine shipping. Did so, now they have charged me $78 for shipping three low value coins in the same packet USPS int priority....what a joke.....utter extortion.....told them to close my account.

I understand your frustration. However, you agreed to their terms when you signed up for an account.
You did read the terms of service before you clicked the "agree" button didn't you?

Just went through the same with them. @westernsky , you are correct also , but in my case they tried to charge me $67 US shipping for two slabbed Canada dollars. Spent 2 weeks on the phone and emailing with them. Got charges down to $33 US, why not charge me the 33 to start with instead of trying send it the most expensive way first?

Online auctions other than ebay are just scams in my opinion. 15%-23% buyers premiums, outrageous shipping costs, and some even charge a "handling fee"

I have never paid $78 for them to ship to me in the past though they always 'try it on' so the terms and conditions thing is not the issue. They charged me 55 bucks, then after complaining, down to 45 bucks....then by adding another coin to the same packed 78 bucks......extortion, rip off.......I have bought several thousands worth of NFLD gold in the past from them and not paid 78 bucks......so my purchases are now at a market loss.

I've had some hard times dealing with Heritage about their shipping methods and charges. they don't provide estimated rates and you have to "learn" from your invoice. My last order was a slabbed dollar purchased in April and shipping came up around $59 to Australia. I understand they charge a handling fee besides the actual shipping cost, to me the real problem is that you hardly know exactly how much the shipping is going to cost until you get the final invoice. There was one time they charged me around $90 for shipping for only two coins, until I figured the shipping wasn't combined I contacted them and got the cost down to about half.

Thanks for this thread. I buy from Auctioneers all over the world and Heritage by a huge margin has the highest shipping and handling charges. I now only ever buy from Heritage when its the only option. I have complained about postage, They gave me a credit for the difference between what I should have paid and what I did then on the next purchase they failed to apply the credit. It took more effort on my part to finally get the money refunded.IMHO they are damaging their market relations with this approach. My experience has been that as well as charging high postage rates, they are also extremely slow at arranging shipping in comparison to: Stacks Bowers (New York), Steven Album ( California) Nobles( Australia) Spink ( london), Mowbrays( New Zealand) Kuenker ( Germany), HD Rauch (Austria) etc. In fact in my experience they are the slowest!

Seems I am not the only one to be stung by Heritage shipping costs.......it seems when they applied 'combined shipping' they only saved me 30% on their shipping costs for two purchases going in same packet. $78 for three low values coins makes my purchase a probable market loss. Once they took my money, they said I could arrange my own shipping in future. Now that might be a valid option but I bet they charge a load of money for packing.......just a hunch.

Did you ask them why shipping was so much this time compared to previously? I'm very curious to know their reasoning behind it.

They said they 'reappraised' their shipping costs, hence the hike. Something else interesting.......their cheapest shipping from US to UK was International Priority USPS. They then said that if they combine two invoices and it comes to more than 250 bucks they will ship coins in two separate packages.......so what that means for 'combined shipping' I have no idea. Also, the coins I bought are not being shipped at the same time either. So one lot has shipped and the other is not ready despite being paid for at same time.
