Now for the coin that made my first NGC adventure worth while.
I have had this coin for years, but only recently looked at
it and saw that if it was at least a MS60 coin it could have
some good value.

Asking a lot of local collectors, I would get opinions of
AU to low MS. Which was what I thought it was.
In Greysheet, AU $130 and MS60 $1400, it seemed like a
very good choice to send in for grading.

Posting the raw pictures, because they are a little better than the quick picture I took of the new slab.

As I mentioned above, greysheet
AU 50 - $130, MS 60 - $1400 and MS 63 - $7000
These are considered wholesale price.
NGC price guide (which I consider high retail) MS 62 $3300

Here is the slab

Whoa, no wonder you're happy

I wasn't close on this one, but that's an awesome grade you got.

That's an extremely pleasing result.

PCGS and NGC have close to a thousand MS62's between them, but you can assume there are a lot of crackouts in that number. I think something approaching/exceeding $2500 isn't out of the question, and your "high retail" price fits.
Rest in Peace

Wow...I think I told you that it was a nice coin last year when you first posted pics and encouraged you to send it in. I am not surprised at all that you got 62 out of it. Matter of fact, a 63 would not have been out of the question. When the graders "grade" they look at the Greysheet and that 63 column seems to scare them on coins like this.

All you have to do is look at what 96-O Morgans are out there on the market in au/unc and your coin runs circles around them.

Good score and congrats!

Thanks all ...

SsuperDdave

Yes that $3300 ... is a price that's not going to happen.

I have been looking at a lot of coins .. on ebay and HA.
Seems like there are some that sell in the mid two thousand.

Then ... have to take away buyers fee or sellers fee.

Which takes it down closer to $2000. When I was hoping to
get a MS60 grade .. $1400 greysheet. Still a bonus for me.

A local dealer might show it to some other dealers, thinks
they might be able to get into that $2000 range. Or there
is a show next month, where a couple dealers might sell it
for me.

Of course no real need to sell it .... just might do it
to buy other Morgan's ..... fill more holes in my set.

The 96-O in "unc" is the type of coin that dealers love to criticize when they are being offered to them for sale. Reason? The huge price disparity between AU and UNC.

You'll hear all kinds of things like "well, NGC made a mistake as its overgraded" or "PCGS would never grade it that high". They'll also throw in "I dont think it'll crossover" as an excuse, too.

If it were mine it would be locked up in the safe for a few years until it's true rarity and value are more appreciated. I'd definitely not be in any hurry to part with it.

Rest in Peace

When you do sell it quality photos are key even though it is slabbed. Your raw photos makes it look dull, almost like it was over dipped. Your "quick photo" in the slab tends to express the cartwheel luster better.
