Phaedrus29 Valued Member United States 228 Posts	Posted 05/24/2015 1:10 pm This was always my favorite coin in my father's collection, when I knew absolutely nothing about grading scales or coin values (now I know slightly more than absolutely nothing). It would certainly be his greatest success from an investment standpoint. (I have a record of his purchase price for some coins.) It was pretty funny when I recently met with someone to review the coins to be sent for grading, and the expert said this one might not be worth sending. And I thought: . She had quickly looked at the coin and assumed it was a 1909-D! (A slightly different coin!!...which it seems would still be worth grading anyway.) It had an old ANACS photograde certificate from the 80's (that I have retained) with grade EF45/45. I have found these ANACS certs to be undergraded in general, especially by today's standards. AU55 was a pretty nice surprise however. I'll try to make another attempt at the pics...the coin certainly has more luster than depicted above.
