I started visiting several online auctions and came across this Morgan dollar. The seller advertises this Morgan as a "Monster Toned" Morgan dollar and puts forth these overexposed photos:

Would-You-Consider-This-Morgan-To-Have-+,-,0-Eye-Appeal?

Would-You-Consider-This-Morgan-To-Have-+,-,0-Eye-Appeal?

Would-You-Consider-This-Morgan-To-Have-+,-,0-Eye-Appeal?

Skeptical of the seemingly carelessly taken photos, I went on NGC and found these straight-on photos of the coin:

Would-You-Consider-This-Morgan-To-Have-+,-,0-Eye-Appeal?

Would-You-Consider-This-Morgan-To-Have-+,-,0-Eye-Appeal?

"Monster Toned" it's not, but how would you guys assess the eye appeal of the coin in light of all above photos?

In my opinion, the eye appeal from the NGC pictures does nothing for me. I personally wouldn't buy this coin.

nice job checking the slab number for ngc pics

Seller is "angle juicing" his pics to enhance the color in order to vaugly be able to represent it as a "monster" to the unwitting newbie toner buyer.

Eye appeal is a solid 2 lol, but seriously, yuck

Personally I have no interest in toned coins, not really my thing, and this one to me is ugly I don't think it has any attractive colors.

The obverse is a serious monster alright but not in a good way. It is downright ugly.

To dark of a color for my liking. Looks like it might be on its last toning cycle as well?
Rest in Peace

Actually, this coin may have more color than NGC's photo. They may have not gone for the "glamour" shot like PCGS does. I'm not saying it's a monster but it may not be the wet dog this group of photos convey.

Two problems for me:
-- I don't like the toning (but generally speaking I don't like any toning)
-- it's an MS-62; I don't like MS-60, -61 and -62 coins (although I do have several but that was a factor of economics)

A bit harsh saying that but I do agree it is just not a nice coin. Now that is sort of a better way to say YUK.

The toning is too dark and unattractive for me. I would pass on this coin and look for a better one.

For now, I am not sure. Last night I was trying to take a
picture of a Morgan dollar. I could not get the toning
to look in the picture as the coin looks in hand.

It always came out much darker.

SO now I am not so sure the coin the OP posted looks as bad as it does in the picture.

For mine...In hand, if you like toning .. this coin does not look so bad.
