I have been slowly working on the Large cent.
Not sure how far I should take my .. restore.
Any opinions are welcome.

When I first got it.

Where I am now. To me it is a little better date, so not
trying to strip it all down.

Nice improvement. What have you been doing to it? Got Verdicare?

I would rather not post what all I am doing to this coin.
I do not want to promote anything, but the acceptable
coin restoration.

Yes, I have VerdiCare. At my desk, I use it often.

This coin had very heavy corrosion/patina, Verdicare
does not dissolve that away.

I might try to work with it a little more, but trying to
avoid leaving pitting on the coin.
Rest in Peace

Interesting project. How much time has elapsed between the first and second photos?

You might try some Concentrated Sulfuric Acid.
Would get rid of any dirt or other contaminates for sure. Kind of a nice coin. If it were mine, I'd keep on trying things to get rid of what is left of the green stuff. Otherwise, so far, nice going.

I have had this coin a couple months. I worked with it twice.

Then it sits on my desk, every once in a while I will rub
it, then give it a coat of Verdicare.

Appears to be an N-1, which is fairly scarce. Be careful, you don't want the copper red color poking through the patina. It looks like it is in a couple very small areas.
Rest in Peace

This is a great statement.
GR58, in all respect, you are a long term member of CCF.
Thank you for posting.

Yes .. there is starting to be a little red showing at the
top of a couple stars. that is why I stopped. It would very
easy to take to much off at this point.

There are a couple spots of green I might try to treat again
with Verdicare, but this might be as far as I take it.

It can only be what it is ..
