Help me identify this error. Struck through with grease?

Thanks in advance.

That appears to be what it is.

Tough call based on one image, but it seems like grease could do this.

Does the obverse look normal?

Struck Through Grease would not cause this effect imo. It looks more like it was struck on a tapered planchet. Of course an obverse photo is necessary to reach a definitive conclusion.

Given the numerous peripheral marks, I'm inclined to think this may be PMD. A pic of the obverse might be more telling.

Sorry for the delay. Here is the obverse. After being mentioned above, I believe it may be a tapered planchet as well.

I haven't received it yet. But when I do, I'll take better photos and post them. I'm not sure on the RPD yet, but fingers crossed.

Plan on it having die rotation, too. The additional evidence of the obverse makes a tapered planchet the obvious theory, but only if the weak areas are together on it.

I'd actually like to see the weak areas on opposite sides of the planchet. That'll throw things into a tizzy.

It arrived today. Looks likes some crude on the coin. Here are my photos:

Nice. Ive seen one other tapered planchette for the date, graded ms 62 bn. Nice example of a planchet error not seen very often.
