Lamination. If it were planchet damage, it would still be strong where we are seeing the lamination peel. But because it is a ghost image, it peeled off after the strike. If it were PSD then the ghost image would have been removed during the damage. So it is a lamination that peeled.

I see something on the upper left of the obverse side and also showing on the reverse. What is that?
