Nice doubling on the second 8. I think first as well. Wide date.

Thanks to all for your comments they're greatly appreciated. Oldman it's good to hear from you also and I can see there are many other familiar names here. I have some 1888's with a die clash above the portrait and some with a clash below the portrait. This coin has it pretty complete clash top and bottom and as gidjit pointed out there's a strong 8 under the Queens chin also check the clash by her eye which is part of the "E" in ONE. What's with the rim beading on the obv? I should add it's of proper size and weight coming in at 5.7 Grams.
Cheers. SIC

Cheers. SIC I have the same coin (with all the clashes, beading and 8,T,E)but no laminations, so as I said it would look better in my collection Also noted no die crack on mine.
Cheers Don

That is a nice example... thanks for the great presentation of it..
I' m thinking that my 88 which also has that great die clash is probably from the same die pair..
It's a shinny and bright example..without the lamination issues though..

Devlec have you checked it for the die crack sliding between the "A" and "T" in Gratia? There were a lot of die clashs in 1888 but it would be cool if they both were from the same die pairing. I know I'd like to see your coin regardless. Maybe some pictures Cheers, SIC

Gidjit that looks like it may be the same die pair just yours is a later die state and of course minted on a stable planchet, nice coin, I like noticeable clashes. Great photos by the way.
Cheers, SIC
