Found this one today I know it isn't the biggest Cud but its my first real Cud. These things are actually hard to come by I was really surprised to have only found this one so far. Also looks like a slight MAD coin as well What are values to These errors?

I see a rim Cud. If it were a Die Cud, the outside edge of the die would have been affected. The full outside circles of the die are present on your coin. Only the rim is affected.

Awesome rim Cud! I don't think it is a MAD. I think it was slightly shifted inside the collar. Is is a partial collar?

It's a pretty nice Rim Cud.
Here is a Mardi Gras die from my collection that has a rim Cud. Notice there is a sharp boundary between the rim area and the face of the die.

Yes it would be a lot different without that boundary, Ken. I was wondering about it until I read down to your post.
Nice Rim Cud tweak.

Thank you and thanks Ken for those pictures of that die . I love seeing what causes these errors.

Not exactly the same thing. The die on the US business strike quarters don't have that edge that you have on your die Ken. There is no edge on the dies like your die is showing.

On this we can see there is no edge that leave a mark. The Proof coins may have this edge, but not the business strike ones. I believe the rim Cud is caused by a faulty collar and not the die.

Steve,
You know that die has been sitting on my desk for about two years now waiting for me to find a good excuse to photograph it.

I found a nice Rim Cud Sunday on Oklahoma 5c Tax Token. Also has three die cracks. The dealer gave it to me for free! Price was right!

Coop,

Here is a 1 oz Silver Round struck Off Center from my dies with wide rims. The rim does not show on the Off Center Strike.

Here is a Double Strike from the same dies. Notice how wide the rims are on the normal first strike. But the rims do not show on the Off Center second strike.

Here's my reverse die with the rim machined into it.

Here is a United States 1968-S Partially Defaced cent die. It has a rim.

Breaks in the collar create Collar Cuds.

Cuds or rim Cuds are not a common find. Congrats!

If you would like, I can list it in cuds-on-coins.com using your images. All I need is your permission to do so and your name for credit on this find.

Coop,
The images of the dies you show are of "circulation finish" with the smaller diameter die bodies used for business strikes. Proof dies have larger bodies to withstand the riggers of the heavy tonnage used to strike proof coins.

The entire process of polishing business strike dies at Denver (which is where the image you show is from) can be seen near the bottom of this page:
http://www.coinnews.net/2014/01/06/...roduce-coins

I've owned both proof and business strike US dies with some detail. I may still have some BS dies with detail. Can't remember as I haven't looked in a long time.
