Picked this up today at my LCS for $22.50. The thing that made me buy it was the shape of the second 8 in the date. Is this just damage or is it something else? I do not profess to know much about VAM but am trying to learn. Any help appreciated!

The same impact also flattened the second 1 to an extent. This is a good place to mention that the best way to understand errors and varieties is to understand the minting process when it's done right - knowing how dies are made and coins are struck would have prevented ever thinking this was some sort of legitimate error.

That said, for $22.50 I'm a buyer.

That's an attractive, evenly-worn, Morgan, that appears to have original toning. Nice purchase at a good price!

Now that's history - don't you wish it could tell you where it was spent?
