I don't know if the date has identical sized chips between the numerals about the same distance as the space between center line denticles. Also the die crack from chin to stars has what appears to be slight displacement in the fields. Haven't had any luck identifying which VAM. I get it out and rehash it every so often.

You would think it would show up in the crack guide with that much going on. It may be buried in one of the scribbling listings. There are a lot of cracks and Feeder Finger Damage hiding in there.

Older obverse die with the numerals drawing towards the rim. That radial crack at Star 5 left is as far away from the date as I've ever seen one on a 1921, and as Dave mentioned it's odd that it hasn't drawn attention for that reason. Is that a crack below BU, and is it the same crack creating the bright spot below the S?

On the reverse, I'm guessing the curved mark through the eagle's left wing is a scratch and not a crack? Also, am I seeing a crack below the bow, just above where a mint mark would be?

Not quite sure what to think about the features between the 9 and 2 yet. They sure look like dents in the die although they don't seem the right shape for denticle dents.

SD, That is a crack from the wheat leaf to just under the left verticle of "U". The bright spot under the "S" is a hit but there is a die crack running inside the bonnet from the area across from the "M" and swinging a gentle arc upwards that stops at the "S" in the 4 o clock position of the "S". I just went through the listed D2 scribbling varieties so I'm about half way through the D2's. Taking a break for a few. The coin is sitting on my desk at arms length and you can see the field displacement(however slight) when you rotate it through the sunlight peeking in. There has got to be more of these around since the die is a long way from terminal state.

edit: that is an additional die crack running from below the nose tip to the 5th star. This crack is faint and hasn't quite developed in the die yet.

Well I checked all the D2 listings and came up with 2 possibilities since there aren't any telling pictures and the reverse definitely has letter doubling. It looks like the doubling is pivoted around the letter "I" in UNITED. Letters "U-N" doubled on the tops and letters "T-E-D" doubled on bottoms and left side. Letters "S-A-T-E-S O-F" doubled on bottom and left side. All of AMERICA is doubled on bottom. The right side star is doubled on the inside the left side star is doubled on the outside. "O-N-E" doubled on the bottom of letters and DOLLAR looks fairly normal.

V-54
V-91 says there is a reverse die marker that may be promising but no pictures and no mention of all the die cracks and die chips in date.
Die marker - Single vertical polishing line right side of top berry cluster in left wreath. No scribbles at eagle's right leg.

I don't know if that is the die marker or not but it was the first time I saw it. This is getting more complicated than before.
