I was looking through a box of half dollars and came across this coin. At first I thought it was just a nice M.A.D, but when I looked under my loupe I began to see doubling on the reverse. I think its Machine Doubling, but I'm not sure. Opinions?

Also an estimate of the value would be appreciated...

It is a strong MAD coin and a keeper. The reverse is showing machine damage on those devices you are showing. (a lot of half dollars show this) But a question. What does the edge of the coin look like? See if the reeding on the edge is present evenly all around?

There is a tick missing in the reeding above the S in "States." Also near the word states the reeding seems to be visible from the reverse of the coin. The reeding looks to be pushed onto the reverse of the coin in that area. I think it might just be PMD though.

So the rest of the reeding normal? On a partial collar the reeding will show with part of the reeding no press into the edge.

This sometimes happens on MAD coins.

Very nice half. I have found a couple, but not as nice as this one. I don't know value. I would suggest seeing old ebay listings.

MAD coins appear to be off centered on the hammer die strikes, but normal on the anvil die strike like this coin. But an off center will show both sides affected. The hammer die is adjustable and when it is not centered, then a strike like this happens.

Strike Doubling (aka, Machine or Mechanical Doubling) on the reverse. Very common for half dollars; the larger the coin the more apt for it to exhibit Strike Doubling.

Minor Tilted Collars go with the territory or Misalinged Die Strike.

Yours is a nice one; better than most.

Yeah thanks. I've been doing good coin roll hunting lately. I think I've got about 65 40%'s in the last 3 boxes.
