This coin sold on ebay today for $195.00, but I didn't win it. I was in the bidding but was cautious about going any higher because the coin doesn't have a return and I couldn't be sure if it has been cleaned or not.

What do people think? Was I wise not to bid more or did I miss out on a deal?

AU but hard to nail it down with these photos. $195 was cheap for an AU Barber Half.
Rest in Peace

I see a small amount of circulation, for me, it has the luster of a 62, but the grade brings it to an au58.

Virtually uncirculated detail, possibly dipped to the point that luster appears diminished. Still looks like it was a very good buy at less than $200. Would have made a nice addition to a high-grade type set.

I think you were wise being cautious..
Better pics are needed before making this kind of investment,
a certified problem-free coin should be considered at this price.

Thanks for all the responses so far. I appreciate them.

While the coin looks very nice, I was concerned that it did not appear to have much luster. That led me to wondering if it had been cleaned.

I came across the auction only a few minutes before it ended and so I didn't have much time to consider what to do.

Try not to beat yourself up on missing a raw coin. Unless you are 100%, they are risky.

Look at the lighter circles around the stars on the reverse...tells me something isn't right about those surfaces.

You did well.
